How to Choose the Perfect Bar Runner

how to choose the perfect bar runner header image

Bar mats and runners are essentials for any bar, pub or club. A branded bar runner is an exceedingly useful promotional tool – when patrons are chatting at the bar, a well-designed mat is sure to catch their eye. It’s only natural that more hospitality venues are seeking to design their own promotional bar runners.

There are many different types of runners and mats available, so it can be rather daunting to begin looking at choosing one. This list will note the most prominent and popular bar runners and explain what makes them different, helping you to make the right choice for your own business!

Premium Bordered Bar Runner

Premium Bordered Bar Runner

The premium bordered bar runner is the quintessential modern bar mat. With a knitted polyester surface for absorbing spillages and a nitrile backing for grip, it’s no wonder that the bordered bar runner has become so popular. One of the main benefits of this runner is its price effectiveness, offering premium quality for extremely competitive pricing.

Absorbent, durable, and hardwearing, the premium bordered bar runner is one of the most longstanding promotional favourite for bars.

Woven Bar Towel

Woven Bar Towels Woven bar towels are the classic bar topper. Composed of fabric, these towels are ultra-absorbent to deal with spills. Additionally, the main distinction for these classic towels is their ability to be used as a regular towel for cleaning other messes. Like the bordered runner, bar towels are cost-effective options for bar tops.

Bar towels are absorbent, cost-effective, and double as a traditional towel for cleaning any spills.

Drip Tray

branded drip tray Drip trays such as this long stainless steel drip tray are not technically bar runners but can serve similar purposes. These trays often feature inserts between two steel surfaces in order to catch spillages. This allows for easy cleaning of your trays and provides a handy area for pouring drinks without worrying.

Drip trays are sturdy and easy to clean, providing a handy space for catching any spills!

Premium Rubber Bar Runner

Premium PVC Rubber Bar Runner

The premium rubber bar runner is one of the most striking mats available. If you’re looking to go all out when setting up your bar, these could be the perfect choice. This rubber bar runner is sturdy, durable, and easy to clean. These custom-made mats are also known as “hedgehog mats” due to their unique design.

The rubber bar runner is an utterly gorgeous mat that offers a completely bespoke mold.

Rubber Bar Mat with Stainless Steel Frame

Rubber Bar Mat with Stainless Steel Frame These bar runners offer a middle ground between the premium rubber bar runners and drip trays. With a sturdy hedgehog mat interior and a steel frame on the exterior, these runners offer the best of both worlds. The rubber mat provides grip and a removable layer for easy cleaning while the frame grants additional sturdiness and catches condensation and overflow from spillages

Durable and easy to clean, the rubber bar mat with stainless steel frame offers a unique hybrid between two popular choices.

What Is a Nonic Pint Glass?

Header image for What is a nonic pint glass

In September of 1913, Hugo Pick of Albert Pick & Co. finalised a design for a new style of pint glass. This brand new glass featured a distinct bulge, one which Pick hoped would reduce breakages when spilled or stacking. On top of this, the new design would provide extra grip and make for easier cleaning. In 1914 Pick was awarded a patent for his glass – the nonic pint glass.

Although Pick’s patent would eventually fall through, the Nonic would go on to become one of the most popular pint glasses in the world. In the UK, the glass became commonplace in pubs across the country after WWII. To this day, the nonic has endured. Chances are you’ve drunk from a nonic yourself many times.

It isn’t hard to see why the nonic is still so popular. The nonic is a cost-effective option for bars and restaurants, an area where its resistance to breakage is put to good use. Here, it can be stacked and stored away safely without fear of chips or nicks. In addition, the glass’s design makes it a great option for most varieties of beer. The nonic is versatile, tough, and economical.

When it comes to your branding needs, the nonic offers a lot of free space for logos. Any design will stand out effectively when placed on this glass! If the nonic sounds like an ideal glass for your promotional needs, contact us today! An in-depth guide on each type of beer glass can be found here.

Bespoke Packaging

Bespoke Packaging

The effectiveness of bespoke promotional products is well documented. Consumers feel particularly appreciated when receiving specially designed products. In addition, brands are able to create products that perfectly encapsulate their core values and image. Promotional merchandise of any kind is one of the most powerful promotional tools imaginable.

One aspect of merchandising that is often overlooked is that of packaging. Packaging is the first thing that people will see when receiving your merchandise, and first impressions matter! Despite the saying, most people certainly do judge a book by its cover. The answer to this challenge is bespoke packaging.

First impressions count

The packaging containing your merchandise can often tell a recipient as much about your company as the product can! The character and style of your brand can be presented perfectly through your packaging. Bright, vibrant colours and unconventional shapes can convey a quirky, happy feeling. Dark colours such as black and grey can convey maturity and elegance. Any graphic designer will be able to tell you how much influence colours and shapes can have over emotion.

What do you want recipients to think of your brand and your product? How do you want them to feel? Is your product practical or a luxury? Consider questions like these when designing your packaging.

Bespoke packaging

Bespoke packaging types

Beyond cosmetic designs, there are many different types and styles of packaging to choose from. E-commerce packaging provides durability during shipment. This style keeps products safe and secure during transit while also keeping size down. After all, it will likely need to fit through a letterbox! Bespoke E-commerce packaging is designed to be appealing, compact and to show off the brand’s own unique style. It is especially important that this style of package looks good, as you’ll also be advertising to every postman who handles it along the way!

Packaging boxes and folding cartons are rather standard affair – and for good reason. These reliable cardboard packages are simple and cost-effective, while still capable of looking great. Not concerned with being compact or sizeable, they are large enough to fit whatever they need to. Bags are usually made of paper or card, and are extremely effective as promotional gifts or for use in stores. Recipients will advertise your store after making a purchase if your bag is branded effectively.

Product packaging is used for, what else, packaging products! This style of packaging will often have the most amount of thought put into it, as it will often be intended to encourage a sale. In addition, this type of packaging is also used for promotional gifts to improve their impact. Food packaging is produced with extra consideration to size, as food will compete for shelf space with similar products.

Last but not least is premium packaging – packaging of lavish material or complex design reserved for the most important of campaigns. Premium packaging can be in any of the previous styles, but is always far more extravagant. You’ll know when it’s time for premium!

We can help!

At All In One Merchandising we offer an extensive bespoke packaging service. Our team will give you any advice or guidance you need when planning your design. We aim to always go for recycled (and recyclable) options when sourcing materials for our packaging. We always want to go green, and other companies concur!

The Power of Bespoke Merchandise

The power of bespoke merchandise header

Promotional merchandise is the undisputed king of marketing. Chances are there is at least one promotional product within your home at this exact moment! Perhaps that is the greatest strength of promotional merch – it places your brand within the daily lives of your customers. People are almost always happy to receive freebies if they’re practical, stylish or fun. What’s more, merchandising is far less invasive than other forms of advertising. According to statistics collected by Industry Today, 8 out of 10 consumers enjoy receiving merchandise while 7 out of 10 find online advertising a bother.

Our own surveys corroborate this rosy outlook, showing that 1 in 5 people will keep branded merchandise indefinitely! If the piece of merchandise being kept is something useful in everyday life, it’s a continuous reminder of your brand to the recipient and anybody else within the vicinity. This is exactly why promotional clothing is so popular! The data is clear, and perfectly illustrates the sheer power of promotional merchandise for any brand.

Bespoke products

Is bespoke merchandise all the same?

So, does it matter what sort of merchandise you use? In short, yes. All merch is not created equal! This brings us nicely to our main topic – bespoke merchandise. Bespoke merchandise are products designed from scratch for your promotional endeavours, rather than sourcing merchandise and customising it. Sourcing products is an incredibly effective method of merchandising, but sometimes you need something more!

Bespoke products give you the opportunity to express the values of your business in a truly unique way. These items have a more personal touch, and make consumers feel ever more appreciated. This also provides the opportunity to create products specific to your sector and to focus on items that will receive the most use. Finally, consumers will feel like the merchandise has more value as they own a unique product designed specifically for them!

Is bespoke packaging important?

When designing your bespoke products, it is always integral to consider packaging. Packaging is the first thing that recipients will see when receiving your merchandise, so it is important to make a good first impression. Designing bespoke packaging in tandem with your product is highly advisable. Just as with your merchandise, packaging should convey your brand’s values and core ideals. Is your brand fun? Quirky? Mature? Recipients should be able to tell from their first glance at your merch’s packaging!

Though often overlooked, bespoke packaging is an invaluable tool. Which would you rather receive a gift in? A blank cardboard box, or a sleek, expertly designed container that perfectly shows off the product within?

What products should you choose?

When beginning work on bespoke merchandise, there is no universal choice for what kind of product to choose. Every brand is different, and something as simple as which industry you operate in will likely influence your decision. For example, if you run a bar then bespoke glassware is an obvious option. Unique and stylish glasses will always see use by consumers. What’s more, outside of giveaways these glasses can see use in your bar, providing extra flair to the experience of patrons.

There do exist some more general options for bespoke merchandise, clothing can be a very effective choice for a wide range of brands and industries, providing the target audience is likely to wear it. Our research showed that 70% of 18-34 year olds will keep promotional clothing longer than any other type of merch, so keep this in mind if your customers are primarily within this age bracket! If you need any help or advice with choosing or designing your bespoke merchandise, don’t hesitate to contact us. We can produce practically any form of bespoke products you can imagine, and we are always here to help.

Most Popular Gin Glasses

Most popular gin glasses header image

Here at All In One Merchandise we have over 20 years of experience in the marketing industry. Throughout this time we have seen various trends come and go, but have also seen many products that are truly evergreen. Among the pantheon of eternally popular merchandising options stands glassware, in particular gin glasses.

Drinking is a basic human function – and many would argue that drinking alcohol is as well! Gin is an immensely popular drink, and promotional gin glasses have proven themselves to be incredibly effective promotional merchandise. This article will reveal the most popular gin glasses within our catalogues, helping you decide on the perfect glassware for your next promotional campaign!

Havana Gin Glass

Havana gin glass

The Havana gin glass is an exceedingly common sight in many bars and restaurants, and for good reason. This glass is stylish and versatile, capable of serving a wide selection of cocktails. The large bowl provides ample space for ice and garnishes.

This style of glass is considered the supreme way to enjoy a G&T. The shape of the glass is designed to prevent ice from melting quickly and diluting your drink.

Juniper Gin Glass

Juniper gin glass

The Juniper boasts a rounder, larger bowl than most other gin glasses. This large bowl gives the beverage within more room to breathe and accentuates its aroma and flavour. In addition, the Juniper is durable and sturdy, ideal for use in busy pubs and clubs.

Finally, this extra large bowl provides even more space for all your favourite garnishes! The Juniper is a fantastic choice for the hospitality industry.

Amsterdam Gin Glass

Amsterdam Gin Glass

The first glass on our list to not feature a stem, the Amsterdam’s simplicity has made it iconic. Still featuring plenty of space for ice and garnish due to its height, this glass has another added benefit. Highball glasses such as the Amsterdam keep carbonated drinks fizzier for longer thanks to their reduced surface area.

Outside of gin, a wide range of cocktails would go down a treat when served in this glass. If you’re looking for elegant, simple and practical, then you can’t go wrong with this one!

Vina Balloon Glass

Vina balloon glass

The Vina Balloon glass may at first glance appear to be a wine glass with a shorter stem. This is hardly surprising considering that the Vina Balloon aims to utilise many of the same benefits offered by wine glasses, chiefly the amplification of scent and flavour.

What’s more, the Vina Balloon is also perfectly viable as a wine glass in and of itself! This versatile glass is popular due to this flexibility.

Vigne Highball Glass

vigne highball

The final stemless glass on our list is the Vigne Highball. This glass bares some similarity to the simple brilliance of the Amsterdam, albeit with an incredibly subtle curve. Like the aforementioned Amsterdam, this glass works exceedingly well with a variety of cocktails and keeps carbonated drinks fizzy.

In exchange for a small amount of space, the glass’s curve helps to slightly funnel the aroma of your drink towards you as you sip. The Vigne Highball offers a tempting alternative to the ever-popular Amsterdam.

Thin Stem Gin Glass

Thin Stem Gin Glass

The Thin Stem is, like the Vina Balloon, very reminiscent of a wine glass. Also like the former, the Thin Stem is versatile enough to function especially well as a wine glass in general. This glass differs in its more rounded bowl, which helps the experience of drinking with amplified fragrance and flavours.

The especially thin stem is not only attractive, but also particularly helpful in preventing your drink from warming up. Stems on glasses are designed specifically for this purpose, holding onto a stem instead of the bowl slows the warming of the drink via body temperature. The longer and thinner a stem, the more time your beverage has at the perfect temperature!

Branded Eco Serving Trays

Header image for branded eco serving trays article

In the modern day it has become far more common for the British public to eat meals on their sofa as opposed to at the dining table. This behavioural shift has likely been influenced by the increased prominence of streaming services such as Netflix. Enter the serving tray! This new eating habit has created a demand for trays to ease the practice of eating dinner in front of the telly. Here’s why our eco serving trays are the perfect promotional product.

Practical and green

Most available trays are made entirely of plastic, creating a notable problem of spills and slippages. Our eco serving trays suffer no such issues. One segment of the tray is composed of cork, creating extra friction and preventing spilled drinks! This cork section provides some truly impressive grip.

Eco serving tray grip

In addition, (and as the name suggests!) the eco serving tray is environmentally friendly. These trays are produced from pressed wood as opposed to plastic.  Manufactured under strict food safety standards, no solvents or water are utilised during production of these wooden serving trays. This product is both lightweight and dishwasher safe!

Serving trays represent an invaluable marketing opportunity. These products will be used whenever recipients choose to eat on their sofas – and as this practice is becoming ever more popular, that could even be daily! Both the front and back of our eco serving trays are customisable with any logo or branding you desire. Associating your brand with something as essential as eating dinner is an excellent way to build both brand awareness and familiarity.

What Is a Nucleated Glass?

What is a Nucleated Glass featured image

The nucleated glass is becoming an increasingly common sight within the hospitality industry. These impressive glasses are simple and effective ways of enhancing the experience of drinking a variety of different beverages.

Put simply, nucleated glasses contain markings on the base (that are very often branded) to aid in nucleation. These markings are actually tiny pits known as points of nucleation. Due to their shape, these points cause gas within drinks to be released with greater ease. As a result, carbonated drinks produce more bubbles and the taste and aroma of drinks are amplified. All manner of drinks can benefit from a nucleated glass.

Beer and Cider Glasses

A pint of beerBeer glasses are the most common type of nucleated glasses. The glasses improve the head of beer and increase the strength of its unique aroma, making a nucleated glass an ideal choice for any beer that features a strong scent. The downside of the nucleated glass is that the increased production of CO2 bubbles will lead to beer going flatter quicker. Any beer that has a high ABV or is intended to be nursed over a longer period of time, therefore, isn’t ideal for nucleated glasses. Beers that are intended to be enjoyed quickly, however, will work exceedingly well.

Cider benefits from nucleated glasses in a similar way to beer. Any carbonated cider is perfect in a nucleated glass due to the increased production of bubbles within the beverage. A high ABV cider that is enjoyed slowly won’t benefit much from a nucleated glass. The cider will go flat quicker as CO2 production increases because of the points of nucleation.

Champagne Glasses

Glass of champagneChampagne is a perfect choice for use with a nucleated glass. Specifically, the points of nucleation enhance the bubbles of this sparkling wine exceedingly well, alongside the aroma and taste.

Champagne is not as commonly associated with nucleated glasses as beer. Despite this, nucleated champagne glasses are likely to become an ever more popular option as more discover the benefits they provide.

Sparkling Cocktails

A glass of Gin and TonicCampagne has proven to be a great fit for these specialised glasses, and so it should come as no surprise that sparkling cocktails are also an ideal pick. Any cocktail that includes champagne or soda water as an ingredient will benefit greatly from a nucleated glass.

Some notable sparkling cocktails that would be ideal are the Kir Royale, the Mimosa, and the classic Gin and Tonic. Any booze with bubbles will be right at home in a nucleated glass.

Sparkling Mineral Water and Fizzy Drinks

A glass of sparkling waterNucleated glasses may be mostly associated with alcohol, but there is nothing preventing them from being used with non-alcoholic drinks as well. The glasses enhance sparkling mineral water, cola, lemonade, and all manner of other fizzy drinks.

Promotional glassware has always been a very attractive choice for businesses looking to bolster the reach of their brand. The nucleated glass looks set to become one of the most popular tools in the market, even in comparison to the tried and tested promotional beer glass. Get ahead of the curve and take a look at our selection of customisable promotional glasses.

The Types of Beer Glasses

Types of beer glasses featured image

The many different shapes and sizes that beer glasses are available in may first appear to be nothing more than a novelty. As a matter of fact, the varying types of beer glasses are specially designed to improve the experience of drinking a beverage. In some cases, glasses are constructed for the express purpose of being used for very specific beers.

This list will explore the most prominent, popular and plentiful types of beer glasses available. By taking a look at what makes them each unique, we hope to be able to help you discover the perfect glass for your own needs from our range of beer glassware.

Nonic Pint Beer Glasses

Nonic pint glass

Also known as the Imperial pint glass, this receptacle is an extremely common sight in British pubs. The Nonic features a small bulge near the top of the glass that is designed to improve the grip of the glass and provide a second layer of flavour to the drink as it passes over it.

Most notably, the Nonic’s bulge is intended to prevent the glass’s rim from being chipped or “nicked.” The glass gets its name from this feature, being pronounced “no nick.” This glass is a good choice for a wide variety of beers and is very cost-effective.

  • Easily stackable
  • Resistant to chips and nicks
  • Improved grip
  • Cost-effective
  • Excellent for most beer

Conical Pint Beer Glasses

Conical pint glassThe Conical pint glass is to American pubs what the Nonic is to British ones, an ever-popular choice that serves as the go-to for the hospitality industry. The Conical is, however, also a very common sight in British bars as well. Also known as The Shaker, this glass features a wide-open top designed to accentuate each beer’s unique aroma.

This glass is another great choice for a wide array of beer due to its simple shape. The Conical is known for being a cost-effective option that is very easy to clean.

  • Accentuates aroma
  • Easy to clean
  • Cost-effective
  • Excellent for most beer

Tulip and Thistle Beer Glasses

Tulip pint glassThe Tulip pint glass rather unsurprisingly gets its name from its appealing tulip-like design. This glass helps maintain the beverage’s head while further enhancing the aroma and taste. The Tulip can be swirled in order to release a beer’s unique scent. Commonly used for strong beers and ales among aficionados.

The Thistle is a largely similar glass, but is slightly taller and designed for Scottish ales. This specialisation granted the receptacle its name, the thistle being Scotland’s national flower.

  • Helps maintain a beer’s head
  • Enhances aroma and taste
  • Can be swirled to enhance a beer’s characteristics
  • Ideal for stronger beer and ales

Pilsner Beer Glasses

Pilsner pint glassOriginating from the Czech city of Plzeň, the Pilsner is a glass specialised to keep beer carbonated. The Pilsner’s shape allows the beer to retain its head, flavour and unique scent. The Pilsner has proved an extremely popular glass due to its simple design that allows for a proper appreciation of the visuals of each beer.

This glass is designed for lighter beers such as lagers (including, of course, Pilsners.) The Pilsner glass usually holds less liquid than most other beer glasses.

  • Beautifully simple
  • Keeps beer carbonated
  • Allows for appreciation of a beer’s appearance
  • Perfect for light beers

Weizenbier Beer Glasses

Weizenbier pint glassThe Weizenbier glass is often mistaken for a Pilsner glass due to its similar shape. However, this glass can hold more than a Pilsner and features distinct curvature near the rim. These glasses are designed for enjoying wheat beers, being taller than average pint glasses in order to accommodate the size of the head of the typical wheat beer.

It has become somewhat popular to place a fruit garnish on the rim of beer served within these glasses, although this can actually end up as detrimental to the beer’s head. It is not uncommon for the acidity of certain fruits to dissipate the head entirely.

  • Designed for wheat beers
  • Perfect height to accommodate for the typical wheat beer head

Stange Beer Glasses

Stange pint glassThe Stange is a small, straight glass of German origin. This glass’s name stems from the German word for “rod.” The Stange is also sometimes referred to as the rod, stick or pole glass.

This particular glass is well known for its simplicity and allows drinkers to fully appreciate a beer’s appearance. The Stange is often used for very light beer, as this glass helps it to become more concentrated to accentuate its flavour.

  • Beautifully simple
  • Allows for appreciation of a beer’s appearance
  • Used for very light beer

Willi Becher Beer Glasses

Willi Becher pint glassThe Willi Becher is another extremely popular German glass. The opening of the glass is narrower than more commonly used glasses such as the Conical. The Willi Becher proves an excellent choice for almost any type of beer.

This glass’s status as an all-rounder has caused it to become ever more popular outside of its home country. Its simple design provides an opportunity to enjoy a beer’s colour and carbonation.

  • Beautifully simple
  • Allows for appreciation of a beer’s appearance
  • Excellent for most beer

Snifter Glasses

Snifter glassDespite being traditionally used for enjoying a brandy or cognac, the Snifter has slowly but surely become a staple beer drinking glass. Specifically, these glasses have become known as ideal receptacles for higher ABV beers such as IPAs.

The glass functions for beer in the same manner as with brandy – the flavour and scent of each beer is accentuated by the shape. In addition, swirling beer within the Snifter glass further improves these elements. In some cases, warming the drink with your hands can also prove beneficial.

  • Enhances aroma and taste
  • Can be swirled to enhance a beer’s characteristics
  • Ideal for stronger beer and ales

IPA Glasses

IPA pint glassThe IPA glass is a relatively recent development within the beer industry. This speciality glass is designed to complement and enhance the natural flavours and aromas of different IPAs. Its unique shape serves to push the IPAs scent towards the drinker while simultaneously preserving the head.

The thin glass construction helps the drink retain its temperature, ensuring that beverages stay colder for longer. IPA glasses also retain their carbonation for longer periods, something that is easily visible through the aforementioned thinner glass.

  • Enhances aroma and taste
  • Helps maintain a beer’s head
  • Ensures beverages stay colder for longer
  • Keeps beer carbonated
  • Designed specifically for IPAs

Goblets and Chalices

Goblet glassBoth goblets and chalices are very similar glasses in terms of both functionality and appearance. Both are perfect choices for high ABV drinks, as the shapes of the glasses maintain the beer’s head and allow for deeper sips.

Goblets and chalices feature small stems that exist to keep hands off of the glass, preventing the drinker from warming the beer with their body temperature. Chalices can be distinguished from goblets by their usually shorter stems and thinner glass construction.

  • Helps maintain a beer’s head
  • The shape allows for deeper sips
  • Stems help beverages stay cold
  • Ideal for stronger beers and ales

Tankards, Mugs and Steins

Tankard pint glassThese three glasses all feature a handle, preventing you from warming your beer with your hands in a similar manner to the stems of goblets and chalices. Tankards, mugs and steins are all very sturdy vessels that usually have thicker walls than other glasses.

Steins can trace their origins all the way back to 14th century Germany and have been made of a wide variety of different materials such as wood, silver and glass. The iconic mugs traditionally feature lids, which were used during the plague to keep diseased flies out of drinks. Steins have become more ornamental in the modern era, although many events such as Oktoberfest will commonly use these popular mugs extensively.

  • Handles help beverages stay cold
  • Very sturdy
  • Popular at festivals and events

Boot Beer Glasses

Boot pint glassThe boot glass is a fascinating object with an equally fascinating history. In the 19th century, soldiers would supposedly initiate new recruits by tasking them with drinking beer from their boots. It is believed that generals would often encourage soldiers in battle with the promise of drinking from the general’s own boot in the event of a victory.

The boot glass has since become a beloved novelty item that makes appearances at many events and festivals. When drinking from these glasses, it is important the drinker does so with the toe facing away from them, otherwise air may enter the toe too quickly and cause it to spill.

  • A beloved novelty
  • Popular at festivals and events
